Lackawanna College is honored to announce that Alexandra Jackson has been named a NJCAA Third Team All-American. This award concludes a season in which she was named to the Region XIX Division II All Region First Team at the end of the 2016-2017 campaign and selected as Region XIX Division II 'Player of the Year'. Previous to her selection to as the "Player of the Year" and the All Region Team, Jackson was also named the NJCAA DII women's player for week 14 of the 2016/17 basketball season and the EPAC Athletic of the Week for the week ending November 12th, 2016.
A Two-year starter for the Lady Falcons, Jackson played in 52 games and scored a total of 605 points while registering 235 assists and 137 steals. She grabbed 188 rebounds and was credited with 22 blocks. This season, she scored 392 points in 27 games, an average of 14.5 per game. As a guard, she dished out 118 assists and was credited with 69 steals. Jackson was not afraid to help under the boards, as she also collected 95 rebounds.
Lackawanna's head coach, Joya Whittington had this to say about the All-American announcement; "It is an unbelievable accomplishment for any student athlete to be named to an All- American team, I am extremely proud and excited for Alex. This is something she will remember and look back on forever."
The last Lackawanna College women's basketball player to receive this recognition was Terika Turner. Turner was also named NJCAA Division II Third Team All American after the 2011-2012 season.
