The Lackawanna College women's basketball team had its season come to an end with a 64-59 loss to Moraine Valley Community College, in the consolation bracket of the National Junior College Athletic Association DII Women's Basketball Tournament. Although, the Lady Falcons were outsized by the Cyclones, they hustled throughout the game to overcome MVCC's advantage and held a 59-58 lead with 1:50 left in the game after Lindsey Dippre hit on a three- point attempt.
Lackawanna held that lead until 36 seconds were left in the contest. At that point, MVCC's Taylor McGiles sank a three-point basket that popped off the rim and then off the backboard before it fell through the net for a 62-59 lead. The Falcons saw their chances disappear when they were unable to score on Alexandra Jackson's three-point attempt with 9 seconds left in the game and her two-point attempt with 2 seconds left. After Lackawanna fouls on each of the defensive rebounds made after those attempts, MVCC hit on 3 of 4 free throw attempts to clinch their victory.
In the 1st half, Moraine Valley appeared to have complete control over the game when they led by 9 points with 5 minutes and 46 seconds left in the 2nd quarter. However, the tenacity of the Lady Falcons' play changed that momentum, as Lackawanna went on a 19-7 streak to take a 33-30 lead at halftime.
In the 2nd half, neither team had a lead greater than three points until there was 18 seconds left in the game, when Erin Drynan hit on her 2nd foul shot to give the Cyclones a 63-59 lead.
Leading scorer for Lackawanna was Lindsey Dippre with 14 points, 12 of which came from the three-point line. Leading rebounder was Paris Thompson, who, coming off the bench, grabbed 12 rebounds and contributed 10 points to give her a double double in points and rebounds. Alexandria Jackson led and assist with 5.
With the loss, the Lady Falcons finished the season with a 19-12 win/loss record and a 13-3 region XIX record.
