Scranton, PA – Tuesday night, Ariana Sanders's double-double performance propelled the Lackawanna College women's basketball team to a 70-63 victory over their arch rivals, the Owls of Union County College. Sanders recorded her double-double by netting 26 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
In addition to Sanders, Alexandra Jackson also recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and registering a team high 10 assists. Tearia Hartley also contributed to the Lackawanna cause with a 10 rebound night.
Keys to the Falcons' win was their bench as it outscored Union's bench by a 22-2 margin and its 24-15 differential in points off of turnovers.
With the win, Lackawanna remains undefeated early in the campaign with a overall 3-0 win/loss record; more importantly, two of those wins are in Region XIX Division II play.
The Lady Falcons return to the floor on Saturday, when they host Manor College, another women's program that annually is in the hunt for the Region XIX DII women's basketball title. Saturday's game will be played at the Lackawanna College Student Union and is scheduled for a 1:00 PM start.
