Lackawanna Softball Wins 2 Games at the Cal Ripken Experience

(Myrtle Beach, SC) –  The Lady Falcons continued their tour of the Cal Ripken Experience on Monday as they played games against Henry Ford College and Bryant & Stratton. Lackawanna defeated Henry Ford College 9-5 and they also defeated Bryant and Stratton 3-2. These wins boost the Lady Falcons record to 2-2 on the young season.

Henry Ford College started the game off with a 4-0 lead over Lackawanna. Hayley Lattomus started on the mound for the Lady Falcons, she only pitched two innings and gave up 3 earned runs. Lackawanna would patiently record their first run as Lexi Bruno would draw a walk set things in motion. From there Bruno would advance on an error to 2nd, advance to 3rd on a passed ball, and then score on another passed ball. Lackawanna trailed 4-1 heading into the bottom of the 3rd when they were able to cross 4 over the plate. Lexis Chapman bunted for a single which drove in the go ahead run. Lady Falcons lead 5-4. Lackawanna would have another big inning in the bottom of the 6th as they drove in 4 more runs. A single by Mia Pawelski and a line drive single by Hayley Coale knocked in 2 runs apiece. The Lady Falcons would go on to win 9-5.

Lackawanna would pitch 3 straight scoreless innings to start the game against Bryant and Stratton. Amanda Mowry stood on the mound for the Lady Falcons. She pitched all 7 innings and only gave up 1 earned run. The bases were loaded for the Lady Falcons in the bottom of the 5th as Lexi Chapman stood at the plate. She would hit a fly ball with 2 outs and reach on an error. Jordan Skoff and Gabrielle Vuocolo would hustle around the base paths to score on that error. Lackawanna gave up 1 run in the bottom of the 7th but held on to win 3-2.
