Another Extra-Base Hit!

Myrtle Beach, SC – The Lady Falcons split the final two contests played on the last day of their spring trip. In the morning contest, they lost to John Wood Community College by a 9-3 score, before beating USC Sumter 9-2 in their getaway game. With the split, Lackawanna finished their spring trip with a win/loss record of 10-3.

Despite the loss to John Woods, the Lackawanna bats continued to be productive. They totaled 11 hits and had three players with multi-hit days. Hayley Coale had a perfect day with three singles in three trips to the plate, while Brenda Reninga and Ashley Walsh each singled twice in three at bats. The Falcons slam extra-base hits as Colleen Cwalina, Jordan Skoff and Vanessa Wolf all contributed doubles.

Ashley Walsh suffered the loss.

Against Sumter, Lackawanna racked up seventeen hits with five batters recording multi-hit games. Of that group, both Brenda Reninga and Paige Durkin had four hit games. Reninga singled three times and doubled in five at bats, while Durkin had a perfect four for four day with four singles and two runs driven in. The other multi-hit games were contributed by Hayle Coale and Colleen Cwalina, each of whom singled and doubled, and Lauryn Rodriguez, who singled twice. Marina Pegula had the Falcons' other extra-base hit, a double.

The win was credited to Amanda Mowry. Mowry yielded two runs on nine hits over seven innings. She struck out ten, a team high for the 2018 season.

The Lady Falcons return to the diamond next weekend when they travel to Rowan College at Gloucester County for a Saturday doubleheader. The RCGC twin-bill is scheduled to start at 1:00 PM.
