Lady Falcons sweep EPAC Doubleheader

Dunmore, PA - Tuesday afternoon, the Lackawanna College softball team swept an Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference doubleheader, beating Lehigh Carbon Community Colleges by scores of 11-3 and 8-2.

In the opener, Kacey Orlowski was the winning pitcher, hurling six innings, while giving up three runs on five hits, while striking out six. She also supported her cause with a double and RBI.

At the plate, five Falcons had multi-hit games. Marina Pegula led the group with three singles in four at bats.  The other Falcons with two hit games were Moriah Lynn with two singles in four plate appearances; Sierra Mulgrew with two singles and an RBI in three at bats; Barbara Verrastro with two singles in three at bats with a run driven in; and Ashley Rzesewski with a single and double in three visits to the plate. Rzesewski also had two RBIs.

In the second game, Barbara Verrastro was credited with the victory, after throwing seven innings, giving up two runs on four hits, while striking out five.

Three Falcons had multi-hit performances. Moriah Lynn doubled twice and scored in three plate appearances. Barbara Verrastro helped her own cause with a single and homer in her three visits to the plate. She also scored twice and drove in two more runs. Paige Durkin rounded out the threesome, with two singles in three at bats. Durkin drove in two runs.
