Lackawanna College Women Sweep Softball Doubleheader

Myrtle Beach. SC: The Lackawanna College softball took both games of Wednesday's doubleheader against Delaware Valley College, winning the opener 6-5 and the nightcap 7-3. The double win leaves the Falcons with a 5-1 win/loss record.

In the opener, Barbara Verrastro earned her second win of the season, pitching a complete game, yielding five runs on five hits while striking out four. The Lackawanna offense was propelled by the hitting of Lauren Leppo and Kacey Orlowski. Leppo had two singles, a double and two RBIs in four at bats, while Orlowski single and doubled in four plate appearances. Emily Duffy also had a multi-hit day with two singles in four plate appearances. Freshman, Sierra Mulgrew, contributed a double and run batted in.

In game two, Kacey Orlowski recorded her third win of the year, giving up three runs over seven innings, surrendering nine hits while striking out three. At the plate, Orlowski helped herself with an RBI double in three plate appearances. Lackawanna's star hitter was Sierra Mulgrew, who singled, doubled and slammed a three run homer in three at bats. Mulgrew drove in four of the Falcons' seven runs. Both Marina Pegula and Emily Duffy also had multi-hit games. They both singled twice in three visits to the plate.

The Lady Falcons finish the Myrtle Beach portion of their spring trip tomorrow, with games against Potomac State College of West Virginia and Lincoln College.
