  • A Year to Remember

    Sometimes after a setback, one loses sight of what they accomplished. That could be the case after the Lady Falcons fell to Mercyhurst North East in the District K playoffs, it shouldn’t. This year’s team was one of the most successful in Lackawanna’s softball history. It claimed the school’s first Region XIX Division II Softball Championship in 15 years. Not only did they claim the title, the Falcons did so in memorable manner. A fourth place seed in the Region Tournament, Lackawanna beat the number one seed, CC of Morris, twice by 4-3 scores and then shut out the third place seed Mercer County Community College, 2-0.
  • Lackawanna ends Season with Loss in District K Final

    Jessup, PA – Friday afternoon, the Lackawanna College softball team had their season come to an end with a loss in the final game of the National Junior College Athletic Association's District K playoffs. The Falcons were outscored by Mercyhurst North East 7-3 in the District's championship game.
  • Dristrict K Game Three Rescheduled Again

    Scranton, PA – After the completion of last Monday’s District K game two, it was announced that the deciding game three would be played on Friday at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, New York. In a last minute change, tomorrow’s game has been relocated back to the Jessup Youth Sports Association Complex on Moosic Lake Rd. RT.247, in Jessup, Pennsylvania. Start time for that contest is 1:00 PM.
  • Lady Falcons lose heart-breaker in Game Two of District K Series

    Scranton, PA – Monday afternoon, the Lackawanna College softball team suffered an extra inning loss to Mercyhurst North East in Game two of the District K playoff series. Lackawanna fell by an 8-5 score in the ninth inning of the back and fourth game. The final game of the best of three series was postponed to Friday and will be played at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, New York.
  • Effects of NEPA Rains lead to postponement of Sunday’s District K Contest

    Jessup, PA – Game two of the National Junior College Athletic Association District K best of three series has been rescheduled to 12 PM on Monday, May 8. The game between Lackawanna College and Mercyhurst North East was originally scheduled for 10 AM today but had to be canceled due to unplayable field conditions. Tomorrow’s game will be played at the Jessup Youth Sports Association Complex on Moosic Lake Rd. RT.247, in Jessup, Pennsylvania.
  • Lady Falcons’ host District “K” Tourney

    Lackawanna College will host this year’s NJCAA District K Softball Tournament. The Tourney is a best of three series between Mercyhurst North East of Erie Pennsylvania and Lackawanna College. The initial two games will be played on Saturday, May 6th, at the Jessup Youth Sports Association Complex on Moosic Lake Rd. RT.247, Jessup, Pennsylvania, Game time for the first contest is scheduled for 2 PM.
  • Lackawanna Foursome named to All EPAC Team

    Schnecksville, PA.- The Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference announced its Softball All Conference Team, as voted by the conference coaches, on Monday May 1st. Pitcher Barbara Verrastro of Lackawanna College was named the EPAC Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Coaches Jeff Pittsman from Lackawanna College and Jennifer Shellhammer-Getz from Lehigh Carbon Community College also repeated as Co-Coaches of the Year. Lackawanna College won the conference championship finishing the season 8-0.
  • Lady Falcons claim Region XIX Title
    April 30, 2017
    Randolph, NJ - Sunday afternoon, the Lackawanna College softball team claimed the Region XIX Division II Softball Title by beating County College of Morris, 4-3. The win completed one of the biggest upsets in Region history. The Lady Falcons entered the Tournament as the fourth place seed, with a 3-7 conference record and 20-12 overall. In the two days of tournament play, they went undefeated, by beating the number one seed, CC of Morris, twice by 4-3 scores and by shutting out third seeded Mercer County Community College, 2-0. The most amazing aspect of the 3-0 sweep of the tourney championship was the fact that the Lady Falcons did it as the away team and were behind in two of the three games. The Region XIX Title is the Falcons' first since 2002.
  • Lackawanna to play Morris in opening round of Region Tournament.

    Scranton, PA – The Lackawanna College softball team will start its post season play on Saturday, April 29, in the opening round of the Region XIX Division II Softball Tournament, with a 10 AM game against County College of Morris. The Tourney will be hosted by Morris and played on their Randolph, New Jersey campus.
  • Verrastro commits to St. Peter’s.
    April 13, 2017
    Scranton, Pa. - Lackawanna College is honored to announce that Barbara Verrastro, a member of the Lackawanna softball team, has signed a Letter of Intent to attend St. Peter’s University. St. Peter’s is a NCAA Division I institution located in Jersey City, New Jersey, and is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
  • Lady Falcons Softball Inks 5 for Fall 2017
