Lackawanna drops Two to NJCAA DI Powerhouse Squads

Myrtle Beach: Day two of the Lady Falcons' spring trip proved to be tough on their pitching staff as the Lackawanna College softball team fell Pitt Community College by a 15-1 score and 12-0 to Spartanburg Methodist College. The Falcons can take solace in the fact that both their opponents are NJCAA Division I teams who have established themselves as the better teams in that division. Pitt entered the game with a 14-2 record , outscoring their opponents 150 to 31; while Spartanburg was ranked 17th in the NJCAA Division Pre-Season Poll and brought a 23-5 record into Tuesday's contest.

In the opener against Pitt, Lackawanna had two hits, both of which were doubles by Jessica Bobersky and Katie Yale. Losing pitcher was Kara Voyton in her first pitching appearance of the 2016 season.

In the second game, the Falcons' leading hitter was Lauren Leppo, who had two singles in three at bats. Also having hits were Jenai Plowden with a single in two plate appearances and Voyton with a base hit in her only official at bat. Losing pitcher was Yale, who now has a 2-1 win/loss record.

Lackawanna continues play tomorrow with a 2:00 PM contest against Danville Area Community College and a 4:30 PM game versus Rend Lake College.
