Dunmore, PA – Sunday afternoon, the Lackawanna College softball team claimed a victory in both games of its doubleheader against Cecil College. The Falcons won the opener 3-2 and the night cap 8-2
In game one, Cecil took a one run lead in the first, in what proved to be their only lead of the contest. Lackawanna rebounded in the third when Amanda Ogozaly tripled and then scored on the same play on an errant throw. The Falcons next scored in the fourth when Bethany Mickavicz tripled and scored on Jessica Boberersky's single; who then scored later on in the inning on Cynthia Petrucci's base hit. Although Cecil scored a run in the fifth it was the last that they could plate.
Bethany Mickavicz was Lackawanna's only batter with a multi-hit game, as she went two for three with a single, triple and a run scored.
The Falcons' winning pitcher was Cynthia Petrucci. Petrucci hurled seven innings giving up two runs on four hits, while striking out five.
In the night cap, Lackawanna scored two runs in the first inning on Darrian Johnson's triple to give them a lead which they never relinquished. The Falcons scored three more in the fourth and an additional three in the fifth; while the Cecil scored single runs in the third and the sixth.
Darrian Johnson and Jessica Bobersky were the Falcons offensive stars. Johnson singled, doubled and tripled in three at bats, while scoring two runs and driving in two. Bobersky singled and doubled in three plate appearances while driving in four.
Petrucci won her second game of the day, hurling seven innings giving up two runs, only one which was earned, on six hits, while striking out four.
