Wednesday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Soccer team claimed a 3-0 victory over Penn State Lehigh Valley, in a match played in Central Valley, Pennsylvania.
The Falcons scored the first goal of the game on an unassisted shot by Hugo Vargus just before the end of the first half, with 40:23 on the clock. Nursing a 1-0 halftime score, Lackawanna scored their second goal of the contest two minutes and forty seconds into the second half when Giovanni Vega found the net with another unassisted shot. The final goal of the match came at the 68:11 point in the game when Fitz Jolly connected with the Lackawanna's third unassisted goal of the game.
PSU – Lehigh Valley was shut out by Falcon goalkeeper, Matthew Tisdel, who was in the nets for the full ninety minutes. He made seven saves.
Lackawanna plays its most important contest of the year on Saturday, when they host Rowan College at Burlington County at the Scranton Prep Loyola Sports Complex. A Lackawanna win will give the Falcons the fourth-place seed in the forthcoming Region XIX Division I Men's Soccer Tournament.
Saturday's game is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
