Success follows Lackawanna Golfers

Scranton, PA – Lackawanna College golf team has a rich history of athletic success. Over the years, the Falcons men's golf team has produced 9 NJCAA National Championship appearances in the past 10 years, while being ranked in the top 25 of Golf World, Nike, and Bushnell coaches poll 7 times.

This year's team continued that success with another appearance in the NJCAA DII National Tournament and the selection of two of its golfers as NJCAA DII All-Americans, Zac Moore and Joseph Hurn; both of whom have graduated and will be transferring to Wilmington University.

After leaving Lackawanna, former Falcons have continued to be successful on the golf course.  Aaron Fricke, a 2014 transfer to Drexel University, won the 2014 Pennsylvania "Pub-Links" championship. John Brundred, 2014 NJCAA All-American, competed in the 2016 Maryland State Amateur Championship. Scott McNeil, (2007), is the reigning 2015 Pennsylvania State Mid-Am Champion. While Corey Maclarney (2004) took first place in the 2014 Match Play Championship and numerous third place finishes in events sponsored by the Philadelphia Section of the Professional Golf Association.

Individuals associated with the program have found success in non-playing golf related activities. Head coach, Patrick Lloyd, is the Executive Director of the Anthracite Golf Association, while former player and assistant coach, Justin Alunni is assistant professional at the Glen OakCountry Club in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania.

So when you're on the course this summer perhaps you might run into one of our current or former golfers. You may even catch a former Falcon in the pro-shop as a PGA professional or apprentice.
