Moore opens National Tournament with  Under-Par Round

Zac Moore shot a one under par 71 in the opening round of the 2016 National Junior College Athletic Association Division II National Golf Tournament. His score places him in a tie for 7th in the tournament's individual scoring;, seven strokes behind the leader, Marco Maldonado of Tyler Community College, (TX) and three strokes out of second place, held by Connor Klein of South Mountain Community College (AZ).

Joe Hurn, a graduate of Crestwood High, finished the day tied for thirteen place with an even par 72, a shot behind Moore. This spring, Hurn claimed first place in the three Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference tournaments in which he played, while Moore won the only tourney that Horn failed to finish as the medalist.

As a team, Lackawanna shot a solid 310 to claim undisputed 12th place on the first day of the four day tournament. Besides the scores carded by Moore and Hurn, Tyler Salak contributed an 82 to the team total, while Ryan O'Malley completed the team scoring with an 85.

Tomorrow, Lackawanna will continue play with the following tee times, Tyler Salak - 8:57 am; Ryan O'Malley – 9:06 am; Zac Moore – 9:15 am; and, Joe Hurn – 9:24 am.

This year's NJCAA DII Golf Tournament is being held at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana. Weather permitting it will run through Friday.
