(Scranton, PA) – The Lackawanna Falcons won a major Region XIX game Sunday afternoon at home inside the Student Union. They defeated Mercer County CC 109-96. Lackawanna's record now rests at 18-9 (10-3).
This conference match-up was the last regular 2018-19 season home game for the Falcons. Talek Williams helped Lackawanna in the first half as he scored 18 points and 2 assists. The Falcons were able to hit over 50% of their shots from the floor and went 7-7 from the free throw line. Excellent shooting helped give them a 5-point lead headed into halftime. Lackawanna took a 50-45 score into the locker room.
The second half saw Talek Williams and J'von Winslow shoot the lights out. Williams finished the game with 36 points, while Winslow finished with 25 points. Impressively the Falcons shot 24-33 of their field goals and improved their shooting percentage from the floor to over 59% for the game. Mercer would tie the game during the middle of the second half but Lackawanna was able to weather the storm before pulling away late. Falcons win 109-96.

"I think our defensive intensity was a difference. We stay focused, for the most part, to our defensive assignments which lead to some easy transitions. Also shooting 78% from the free throw line allowed us to keep and maintain our lead."
