Scranton, PA: Thursday night, the Lackawanna College Men's Basketball team claimed a thrilling 84-74 win over Chesapeake College in their season and home opener. Trailing by a 44-34 score early in the second half, the Lackawanna went on a six-minute 20-8 scoring spree to tie the game at 52 with 9:34 left on the clock. From that point until there were three minutes and forty seconds left in the game, neither team led by more than five points. However, from then on, the Falcons went on a 13-6 scoring roll to close out the contest.
Keyon Faulkner-Smith led the Lackawanna in scoring with 17 points He was followed by Ransford Agyeman with 16 and Stevan Rodriquez with 14. Rodriquez made the most of his points by also grabbing a team high 12 rebounds to give him the team's first double-double of the season. Also scoring in double figures were Theron Reddy with 13 points and Khristian Gill with 11. Javonty Pipkin led the Falcons in assists with 10.
Lackawanna scrimmages the University of Scranton at Lackawanna's Student Union on Saturday at 3:00 pm, before returning to regular season play on Tuesday against Valley Forge Military College. Tuesday's contest will also be played at the Student Union and is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
