  • Lackawanna’s Stevan Rodriguez named to NJCAA All-American Team
    April 11, 2018
    Scranton, PA – Tuesday afternoon the National Junior College Athletic Association announced their Men’s Basketball Division II All-American Teams. Named to the Third Team was Lackawanna College’s starting forward, Stevan Rodriguez. With the announcement, Rodriguez became the first Lackawanna men’s basketball player to be so honored since 2010.
  • Falcons see Season come to an end in Semifinals

    Scranton, PA – Despite a 22-point effort by Keyon Faulkner-Smith and a 20-point game by Jonathan Williams, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball had their season come to an end at hands of SUNY Ulster with an 92 86 loss in the Region XIX/District 12 Semifinals. The loss eliminated the Falcons from post-season play and left them with an overall win/loss record of 24-5.
  • Lackawanna finishes Regular Season with Win

    Scranton, PA – Thursday night, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team finished their 2017/2018 regular season with an 89-83 win over Cecil College. The Falcons were led by Stevan Rodriguez, who scored a team best 27 points; three of which came from the foul line in the closing minute of play to help seal the victory.
  • Lackawanna finishes Conference Play with a Win

    Pemberton, NJ – Thursday night, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team completed their 2017-18 Region XIX Division II play with 73-70 win at Rowan College at Burlington College. With 13 seconds left in the game, the score was tied at 70-70 when Khristian Gill contributed a go-ahead dunk and Javontay Pipkin hit one of two foul shots after a subsequent Lackawanna stop.

    Scranton, PA: Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team ended their home conference schedule with a 97-79 win over Manor College. The Falcons were led by Keyon Faulkner-Smith with a team high 28 points and Jonathan Williams with a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds.

    West Windsor, NJ – Thursday night, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team beat Mercer County Community College 61-51. The win improves their Region XIX DII win/loss record to 13-1 and is their eight-consecutive win in conference play.
  • Lackawanna College Basketball Teams Host Benefit Games for Jalen Chandler

    SCRANTON, Pa. ? The Lackawanna College Falcons will also host a "Cancer Awareness Day" during Men's and Women's basketball games versus Manor College on Saturday, February 17 at the Lackawanna College Student Union, 500 Jefferson Avenue, Scranton. Proceeds from the games that day will benefit Jalen Chandler, an eighth-grade South Scranton Intermediate School student-athlete who was recently diagnosed with myeloid leukemia.
  • Lackawanna wins at Buzzer

    Scranton, PA – Playing against their closest competition, County College of Morris, on Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Basketball needed a win to guarantee them a first-place seed in the upcoming Region XIX Division Men’s Basketball Tournament. That win did not come easy, even though Lackawanna took the initial lead in the game and never relinquished it until Morris tied the score with 7 seconds left in the contest. CCM’s Ranell Bell’s jump shot from above the key knotted the score at 73 all. The Falcons quickly replied by getting the ball to Jonathan Williams just inside the foul line. A quick jumper by Williams and the ball falling through the net as the buzzer sounded regained the Lackawanna lead and a 75-73 victory.
  • Falcons Fly High as they claim Region Victory over Valley Forge

    Wayne, PA – With the echoes of the Philadelphia Eagles’ fight song, “Fly Eagles Fly”, reverberating through the Philadelphia Main Line after Thursday’s victory parade, the Lackawanna College Basketball team composed their own version of that iconic song with “Fly Falcons Fly”, as they ran off to a 24-5 run at the start of their game against Valley Forge Military College on their way to a 90-49 victory. Sophomore forward, Jonathan Williams, led the Lackawanna efforts with 15 points and 3 blocked shots.
  • Falcons fall to Harcum

    Bryn Mawr, PA – Saturday afternoon, the Lackawawanna College Men’s Basketball team fell to Harcum College by a score of 83-56. The loss dropped the Falcons’ overall win/loss record to 18-4 but had no effect on their first place standing in Region XIX DII play.

    Newark, NJ – After a Manor College loss last Saturday and tonight’s 99-52 win by the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team over Essex County College, the Falcons claimed sole possession of first place in the Region XIX standings. The Falcons were led by Alphonso Gee who had a team high 14 points. He also dished off 6 assists to tie him with Javontay Pipkin for a game high in that statistical category.
  • Lackawanna Men remain unbeaten at Home with win over ASA

    Scranton, PA – Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team kept their 2017-18 home winning streak alive with a 75-72 victory over ASA College – Brooklyn. The win was far from easy, as the Falcons took their game winning lead with 32 seconds left in the game on a Ransford Agyeman two pointer from the key. ASA made three attempts to regain the lead in the subsequent possession only to have Stevan Rodriguez grab a defensive rebound with 7 tenths of a second left on the clock. An ASA foul, two successful Rodriguez foul shots and a wild ASA shot was all that Lackawanna needed to secure its 10th consecutive home win this season.

    Scranton, PA – Thursday night, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team used double digit scoring efforts by seven players to outscore CCBC – Catonsville 86-71. Of those seven, Stevan Rodriguez and Javontay Pipkin led the group with double-double nights. Rodriguez netted 13 points and 12 rebounds; while Pipkin scored 14 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and nearly had a triple-double when he came up two short in assists with 8. Also making a significant contribution to the victory was Alphonso Gee’s team high 17 points.

    North Branch, NJ – Down by 18 during the first half and trailing 42-29 at halftime, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team used a stout defense and a 54-point second half effort to beat Raritan Valley Community College 83-70. Key to the Falcons’ turnaround was the double-double performance by Stevan Rodriguez. Rodriguez netted 25 points while grabbing 11 rebounds.

    Scranton, PA – Led by a 22-point scoring performance by Stevan Rodriguez and a Khristian Gill double-double of 11 points and 20 rebounds, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team beat Delaware Technical Community College 79-49. The win gives the Falcons a Region XIX Division II win/loss record of 8-1 and tied with Manor College for first place in the conference.

    Scranton, PA – Tuesday night, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team overpowered Luzerne County Community College for a 127-73 win. Six Falcons scored in double digits with Jonathan Williams and Stevan Rodriguez leading that group with 16 points respectively.

    Brooklyn, NY – Wednesday afternoon, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team started the 2018 half of their season with a win over Bergen Community College. Lackawanna beat the Bulldogs by a score of 88-58.

    Middletown, NY – Thursday night, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team ended the first half of the 2017-2018 basketball season with a 114-84 victory over Orange County Community College. With the win, the Falcons improved their overall win/loss record to 11-2, while their Region XIX DII record remains at 7-1.

    Baltimore MD. – This past weekend the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team participated in the Ben Williams Basketball Tournament hosted by Baltimore City Community College. The Falcons lost their opener on Saturday losing to Frederick Community College 84-66; before bouncing back on Sunday to claim 3rd place with an 86-85 win over BCCC.

    The Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball Team is scheduled to play on Wednesday, January 3rd, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, the home of the Brooklyn Nets. The Falcons’ opponent for that contest is Bergen County Community College. The game is listed for a 2 p.m. start and will serve as a preliminary to the main event of the day, the 7:30 pm contest between the Brooklyn Nets and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

    Scranton, PA – Thursday night, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team upset Raritan Valley Community College by a score of 93-79. The Lions entered the game as the Region’s top ranked team with a conference win/loss record of 3-0. The Falcons were led by Jonathan Williams who had 27 points and 9 rebounds.

    Jenkintown, PA - Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Men's Basketball team suffered their first loss of the 2017-18 basketball season. The Falcons fell to Manor College 81-74. The game was a lot closer than the final score indicates as the Falcons trailed by a single point with 2:48 left in the game.
  • Falcons beat Del Tech in Double Overtime to remain undefeated

    Newark, DE – The Lackawanna College men’s basketball team used double figure scoring and rebounding efforts by Stevan Rodriguez and Jonathan Williams to propel them to a 107-105 double overtime win over Delaware Technical Community College in Stanton. Rodriguez scored 31, grabbed a team high 17 rebounds and blocked 6 shots, while Williams contributed 19 points secured 14 rebounds and led the team in assists with 4.

The win keeps the Falcons unbeaten in early season play with an overall win/loss record of 5-0 and a Region XIX record of 4-0.

    Randolph, NJ – Propelled by Stevan Rodriguez’s double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds, the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team edged County College of Morris, 82-80, to remain unbeaten in the early goings of the 2017-18 season. Rodriguez efforts were aided by Theron Reddy who scored 19 points off the bench.
  • Lackawanna Pair Propel Falcons to Victory

    Scranton, PA - Saturday afternoon, Ransford Agyeman and Jonathan Williams propelled the Lackawanna College Men’s Basketball team to an 87-75 win over Rowan College of Burlington College. Agyeman was top scorer for the Falcons with 22 points, while Williams contributed to the victory with 21; which included a three for four day from the three-point line.
