Lackawanna falls in Regular Season Final, Starts Postseason on Tuesday

The Lackawanna College men's basketball team ended their regular season on Thursday evening with a 75-63 road loss to Cecil College. The loss left them with an overall win-loss record of 18-11. The Falcons start their post season play on Tuesday when they host Region XIX's 5th place seed Orange County Community College for a 6:00 PM tipoff at Lackawanna's Student Union. Under NJCAA postseason rules, Orange, the only DII team in Region 15, is guaranteed a fifth place seed in the Region XIX tourney by posting a .500 record. OCCC posted a 14-14 win/loss record. The winner of that contest will proceed to the Semifinals of the Region XIX Division II Men's Basketball Tournament.

In tonight's game, Darryl Carr and Elijah Baker led the Falcons in scoring with 13 points each. Gil Benz also scored in double figures with 10. Leading rebounder for Lackawanna was Justin Iton with 7, while Javontay Pipkin led in assists with 5.

In other Region XIX DII Quarterfinal games Raritan Valley will travel to Manor College and Del Tech Stanton will play at Rowan College at Burlington County.  The Final Four will be played next weekend at County College of Morris's Randolph, New Jersey Campus, with the Semifinal games played on Saturday, March 11th and the Title game on Sunday the 12th.
