Lackawanna claims 83-71 Victory over Manor

Scranton, PA – Tuesday night, the Lackawanna College men's basketball team concluded its first half of the season with an 83-71 win over their intrastate Region XIX DII rival, Manor College. The Falcons trailed for much of the game but gained a one point lead on a Cartier Talford field goal with 9:40 left in the game, which lead they would not relinquish for the rest of the game. The win left Lackawanna with a 6-2 win/loss record in conference and a 9-4 record overall.

Talford was the Falcons leading scorer with 20 points. Also contributing to the win with double figure scoring performances were Darryl Carr and Gil Benz, each with 12 points; and Theron Reddy with 11. Khristian Gill and Benz led the team in rebounds with 9 apiece; while Reddy led in assists with 5. Benz also recorded a team high 5 steals.

The Falcons will not return to the court until 2017 when they host Essex County College on January 10th in the second game of a Region XIX DII women's and men's basketball doubleheader. Essex is presently undefeated in Region XIX and overall play; and are ranked 3rd in the most recent NJCAA DII Polls. That contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM start.
