Scranton, PA- The Lackawanna College men's basketball team will start the 2016 half of their season on Saturday, January 9th, at Lackawanna's Student Union. Saturday's game is scheduled for 3:00 PM and will be the first of a nine-game stretch, which will go a long way in determining whether the Falcons will earn their sixteenth (16th) consecutive spot in the Region XIX DII Men's Basketball Tournament starting with the 2000-2001 season.
Presently, the Falcons have a 4-3 Region record and are 9-7 overall. Eight (8) of those Nine (9) games are against conference foes. At the very minimum the Falcons must finish the season with 15 overall wins or nine (9) conference wins to guarantee a position in the tournament. However, region history indicates that a 15 win season or a .500 record in conference usually means a quarterfinal game on the road, an undesirable and unwanted scenario. Hence the need for the Falcons to play winning basketball over this nine-game stretch.
