Bryn Mawr, PA: Since Harcum College declared for D I status with the NJCAA, the men's basketball contests between the Bears and Lackawanna College have been less than competitive, with Harcum winning every contest, all with double digit victory margins. It was not always that way. Prior to the move, the two schools yearly battled for Region XIX superiority with the winner having to go through some epic on court battles before claiming victory. Thursday's game fit into that latter mode, as Lackawanna came within a three point shot of tying the score in a contest that Harcum won 100-97.
The Falcons stayed close to Harcum the entire game by playing with a lot of heart, and a balanced scoring offense. Five Lackawanna players scored in double figures. Kyle Menard led the group with 22 points. He was followed by Mark Perry with 20; Isaiah Francis with 18; Travaun Coad with 16; and, Josh Kahindo with 12. Leading rebounders were Mark Perry with 8 and Menard with 7. Menard led in assists with 7, while Francis led in steals with 5.
The Falcons next host undefeated Manor College (5-0) on Sunday at Lackawanna's Student Union. Game time for that contest is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
