Staten Island, NY – Sunday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Football team improved their record to 2-0 with a 48-6 win over the Wagner College Junior Varsity team. The Falcons coasted to the victory by scoring 35 of those points before halftime.
Lackawanna scored its first points of the day with 13:03 left in the first quarter on a 50 yard pass from Shane McLaughlin to Harrison Dreher and extra point kick by Isaiah Howard. The Falcons would score two more times in the quarter on a 6-yard run by Rashard Jackson with 11:31 on the clock and a 3 yard run by Reggie Jean-Charles at the 3:48 mark. Howard was successful on both of his point after attempts.
In the second period, the Falcons scored twice. The first of those scores came on a 22-yard rush by freshman running back Calvin Bell with 13:03 remaining in the half. The second score came on a 15-yard post pass from McLaughlin to Javon Turner with 2:34 left. Again, Howard added an extra point after each score to give Lackawanna a 35-0 lead going into half time.
Wagner scored their only TD of the game on a 26-yard pass at the 6:50 mark in the third period. The Falcons failed to score in that quarter but rebounded in the fourth quarter to score two more touchdowns to close out the scoring.
In that period, Ryan Schumacher teamed up with Quentin Sanders for two aerial touchdowns. The first came from 25 yards out with 14:45 left in the game and the second came at the 9:14 mark from 11-yards out.
The Falcons will again take to the road for their next game. Next Sunday, they travel to Doylestown, Pennsylvania to take on the Junior Varsity team at Delaware Valley College. Kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 AM.
