Lackawanna to play in Valley of the Sun Bowl

Scranton, PA – Tuesday afternoon, Mark Duda, head coach of the Lackawanna College football team, announced that his team has accepted an invitation to play in the Valley of the Sun Bowl. That bowl game will be played on Saturday, December 3rd, and will be hosted by Lackawanna's opponent Mesa Community College on their Mesa, Arizona campus.

Lackawanna will enter the contest with an undefeated 10-0 win/loss record and a 7th place ranking in the final pre-bowl NJCAA football poll. Mesa has an 8-2 win/loss record with their losses coming in their opening game, a 43-42 loss to Phoenix College, and a 45-21 loss to the 2nd ranked team in the NJCAA poll, Arizona Western, on November 5th. The Valley of the Sun Bowl will be Lackawanna's 10th bowl game appearance in the program's history and the second Valley of the Sun Bowl, having appeared in the 2006 game. The Falcons' last bowl appearance was the 2011 Salt City Bowl.
