Scranton, PA - Over the years, Lackawanna College and ASA College have been known for their close and physical games. It was therefore no surprise that with 13:03 left in the first half, Lackawanna held a slim two-point lead. However, with the ensuing kickoff, the Falcons used three big scoring plays to take control the game on their way to their sixth straight victory, a 45-22 win over ASA.
The first of the trio of the game changing plays came in the 2nd period when Jerrod Diggs returned an ASA kickoff 90 yards for a score. The next big play came with 8:45 left in the first half, Tyrone Washington stunted an ASA drive by returning an interception 75 yards for a TD. Finally, David Pindell scampered 55 yards on a quarterback keeper for the final Falcon score of the 2nd quarter to give Lackawanna a 35-12 lead at halftime.
In the 2nd half, Lackawanna used as a 32 yard Eric Hill field goal and a 16 yard touchdown pass from Pindell to Diggs to expand their lead to 45-12 at the conclusion of the 3rd quarter. A fourth period ASA touchdown and field goal was too little too late, as Lackawanna claimed a 45-22 victory.
Pindell was the Falcons leading rusher, with 59 net yards on 6 carries, and passer, with 97 yards on 7 completions in 13 attempts. Diggs was Lackawanna's number one receiver, catching 5 passes for 90 yards.
The defense was highlighted by the play of Brad Zaffram and Justin Walker. Zaffram made 11 tackles and was credited with 3 sacks. Walker made 7 tackles and was credited with 2 sacks. Shane Schuback had a noteworthy day, even though he was only credited with a single tackle. However in addition to that tackle, he recovered 3 fumbles and return them for a total of 64 yards.
