Lackawanna Moves into Top Ten

Scranton, PA - Lackawanna College climbed four spots to move into ninth place in the National Junior College Athletic Association's National Poll. It is the Lackawanna's highest standing since being ranked 12th in the December 6th, 2010, poll. The Falcons' last top-10 appearance came in the September 25th, 2007 NJCAA Poll, when they were fifth.

This week, the JCGridiron.com's Dirty 30 Rankings has Lackawanna placed seventh.

Lackawanna's appearance in the poll now means a Northeast Football Conference team has been ranked in the last 158 NJCAA polls. The streak dates to the October 21, 2003, poll. A NEFC team has been ranked 321 times since the start of the 2002 season.

The Falcons are led by head coach, Mark Duda, who ranks second among active NJCAA coaches with 148 wins.

As of this writing, Lackawanna's 55 team touchdowns rank 5th in the NJCAA national statistics with its 404 points.

Individually, Lackawanna players are also ranked nationally in the top 10 in various statistical categories. Quarterback Andrew Ford has thrown 20 touchdown passes, placing him 3rd, while his 1,584 passing yards rank 9th. Kicker Pat Frio's 60 points rank 6th among kickers. His 39 extra-point kicks rank 6th as does his 43 extra-point kick attempts.

In addition to statistical recognition, linebacker, Kapri Doucet was recognized for his performance against ASA where he recorded 9 solo tackles and an 84-yard interception return for a score, For that effort he was named the NJCAA Defensive Player of the Week for the week of October 14th.
