Scranton, PA – The Lackawanna College Football Team hasn't played a game within the boundaries of the City of Scranton since 2003. Saturday they returned to the Electric City and celebrated in a big way with a 33 points in the first half and a 53-7 victory over Navy Prep.
The Falcons used a varied attack as nine different players contributed to the victory with scores. In the opening quarter, Michael Boland started the day's scoring with a 15 yard TD pass from Andrew Ford. Raekwon Purdy followed with a 33 yard touchdown reception of a Ford bomb. Then came the Falcons' first rushing touchdown, a one yard quarterback sneak by Ford with 14:08 left in the second quarter. Not to be outdone, Lackawanna kicker, Pat Frio contributed the fourth score of the day with a 41 yard field goal. The Falcon defense added two points of their own when Kyzir White was credited with a safety. John Williams closed out the first half scoring with an 18 yard reception of Ford's third touchdown pass of the first half.
In the second half, Lackawanna was shutout in the third quarter but bounced back in the fourth as Demetrius Louis, David Pindell and Kane Kani all scored rushing TDs. Louis scored on a 12 yard run, while Pindell on a three yard bootleg and Kane on a 33 yard sprint.
Lackawanna goes on the road for their next contest, as they travel to Newark, New Jersey, next Saturday to play Globe Institute of Technology. Saturdays contest is scheduled for a 7:00 PM kickoff and will be played at the Malcolm X Shabazz High School Football Stadium.
