(New Rochelle, NY) – Lackawanna Baseball traveled to Monroe College to play a double-header on Tuesday afternoon. Lackawanna lost game one by a score of 5-3 and lost game two 6-3. The Falcons record is now 10-9.
Game 1 was scoreless until the top of the 3rd inning when Lackawanna's Ryan Cole reached 1st and advanced to 2nd on a dropped pop up to center. This allowed John Crane and Owen Kiess to score. Monroe College was able to add 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the 3rd and then 2 more in the bottom of the 4th. DJ Barry-Staszak scored on a throwing error in the 5th inning to help inch the Falcons closer to tying the game but they couldn't drive home any more runs. Monroe College won 5-3. The losing pitcher was Nate Kitchell. He pitched 4 innings, gave up 5 hits and 4 earned runs.

Game 2 saw the Falcons struggle to score again. Monroe College put 3 runs on the board in the bottom of the 3rd. Ian Diaz singled for Lackawanna in the top of the 4th as Anthony Socci would cross the plate to shrink the Monroe College lead to 3-1. Monroe added 3 more runs in the bottom of the 5th off of a 3-run double. Lackawanna would fight back in the 7th, adding 2 runs on a throwing error. Monroe College held on to win 6-3. The losing pitcher was Brandon Kohn. He threw 4 innings, gave up 4 hits and 3 earned runs.

The Falcons will take to the field again on Saturday March 23rd at 12:00pm. Saturday will be Lackawanna's home opener; they will face off against Ulster County CC for a double-header.
