Lackawanna Baseball Sweeps Corning CC

(Steuben County, NY) – Lackawanna College traveled to New York on Saturday afternoon to play a double-header against Corning Community College. The Falcons won both games, 19-0 and 18-4. Lackawanna's record now rests at 8-7.

Lackawanna started game 1 with 3 runs in the top of the first. Anthony Socci doubled to bring home Ryan Cole and Thylar Summarell. Jerry Reinhart hit Socci home a few batters later on a single. Zac Granger started off the 2nd inning with a solo homerun, which was followed by 2 more runs on passed balls. Lackawanna broke the game open in the 4th inning, scoring 11 runs. Notably, Thylar Summarell hit a 2 RBI single, Owen Kiess hit a 3 run triple to center field, and Zac Granger hit home another run on a single. Falcons went on to win 19-0. The winning pitcher was Jordan Art. He pitched 5 innings, gave up 3 hits and no runs.

Game 2 saw the Falcons score runs early again. Jerry Reinhart stepped in the batter's box with the bases loaded and proceeded to crack a double to left field. All three runners scored, Falcons lead 3-0. Corning CC answered back with 2 runs in the bottom of the first but the Falcons would hang an additional 3 runs in the top of the 2nd. Zac Granger hit a solo homer, Thylar Summarell tripled home a run, and David Williams hit a sacrifice fly to score Summarell. The Falcons added 11 runs in the top of the 6th as Zac Granger doubled home 2 runs, Thylar Summarell singled home 2 runs, and DJ Staszak tripled home 2 runs. Lackawanna won 18-4. The winning pitcher was Anthony Colvin, pitching 5 innings, giving up 9 hits, and 3 earned runs.
