(Scranton, PA) – The Lackawanna Falcons played a double header against Danville Area CC at the Cal Ripken Experience on Thursday afternoon. They lost game one 6-0 but pulled out a win in game two, 8-7. Lackawanna's record is 3-6.
Game 1 saw the Falcons get shutout by Danville Area CC. Lackawanna was held to just 5 hits. Justus Sanders was charged with the loss; he gave up 5 earned runs including 4 in the first two innings. Danville Area CC won game one 6-0.
Jerry Reinhart: 1-2, 1 Double
The Falcons found their footing in game 2. Zac Granger singled to start off the bottom of the 1st. He was brought across the plate by a 2-run homerun by Thylar Summarell to deep center field. Granger went on to hit a 2 RBI single in the bottom of the second. The Falcons led 4-1 going into the top of the 3rd, but Danville responded with 3 runs to tie things up 4-4. Headed into the bottom of the 6th Danville held a 7-6 lead. Zac Granger and Matt Clarke came through with a pair of singles to kick off bottom of the inning. Ryan Cole stepped up to bat and on the first pitch cracked a triple to center field. Granger and Clarke came around the bases to score; Cole was thrown out at home. The triple provided the Falcons an 8-7 advantage heading into the 7th. Owen Kiess finished off Danville with 3 strike outs to give Lackawanna the win 8-7.
