(Myrtle Beach, SC) – The Lackawanna Falcons continued their spring break trip to the Cal Ripken Experience on Tuesday afternoon, competing in 2 games. Lackawanna lost to the College of DuPage 9-2 and fell to Kankakee CC 13-12. The Falcons record now rests at 2-5.
College of DuPage started to go to work quickly on the Falcons. They hit a home run over the left field wall in the bottom of the first. Lackawanna's David Williams hit a single, worked his way across the base paths and the Falcons got a run back on a passed ball. Lackawanna scored again in the top of the 3rd on a bad throw by DuPage's 3rd baseman. The College of DuPage cracked the game wide open in the bottom of the 5th, they added 4 runs on several Falcon errors. The Falcons committed 5 errors by the end of the game. College of DuPage held Lackawanna to only 2 hits and won by a score of 9-2.
David Williams: 1-3, 1 Single
The Falcons were taken back by Kankakee CC early and couldn't get any runs in the early stages of the game. Heading into the bottom of the 3rd, Kankakee CC led 9-0 but the Falcons scored 2. Thylar Summarell knocked home Jerry Reinhart on a double. The very next inning Kankakee would pile on more runs making the score 12-2. Lackawanna would fight back in the bottom of the 4th, as DJ Barry was responsible for a 2 RBI single. Barry helped the Falcons the very next inning with the bases loaded. He hit a shot to left center field for a double, clearing the bases for 3 RBIs. Lackawanna crept back into the game, trailing 13-10 going into the bottom of the 7th. The Falcons were able to add two more runs but ultimately came up short and lost 13-12.
DJ Barry: 2-4, 5 RBIs, 1 Double
