    Nineteen members of the Lackawanna College athletic teams were recently acknowledged nationally for their achievements in the classroom. The nineteen were named by the National Junior College Athletic Association to its All-Academic Team.

    SCRANTON, PA. – After completion of an intensive search to replace its Baseball Coach, who resigned in May to return to his native state of Minnesota, Lackawanna College has hired Mike McCarry as the next pilot of its successful baseball program.
  • Lackawanna Pair Named to NJCAA All American Team

    Scranton, PA: The Lackawanna College is honored to announce that two members of its 2018 Baseball Team have been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II All-American Team. The Region XIX Division II Player of the Year, Kelani Luke was selected to the First Team as an infielder, while the Region's Pitcher of the Year, Joey Baran, was named to the Second Team.

    Scranton, PA - The Milwaukee Brewers selected Lackawanna College's Joey Baran in the twenty-second round of the 2018 Major League Player Draft. He was the eleventh player in the program history to be selected in this annual event.
  • Falcons’ Season comes to an End in Region XIX Championship Round

    West Windsor, NJ – Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team saw their season come to an end in the championship round of the Region XIX Division II Baseball Tournament; falling to Mercer County Community College 11-6. Lackawanna advanced to that round by beating Sussex County Community College 14-1 earlier in the day.
  • Lackawanna Splits on Opening Day of Region XIX Baseball Tournament

    West Windsor, NJ – The Lackawanna College Baseball team split its two games on the opening day of the Region XIX Division II Baseball Tournament. In the opening contest, the Falcons beat Sussex County Community College 8-2 on a 3 hit 3 RBI batting performance by DJ Berry-Staszak and a 7 hit 2 run joint pitching effort by Joey Baran and Steve Boscia.. In the second game of the day, Lackawanna was outscored 7-5 by Mercer County Community College, as the Vikings scored 5 unearned runs in the 7th inning and two earned runs in the 9th to overcome the Falcons’ 5 run lead.
  • Falcon Players receive High Honors

    WILMINGTON, DE – The Region XIX Baseball Committee released its Division II All Region Team for the 2018 season. Four Lackawanna Players were named to that team with Kelani Luke chosen as the “Division II Men's Baseball Player of the Year” and Joey Baran designated as the “Division II Men's Baseball Pitcher of the Year”. Besides Luke and Baran, Jahmoi Percival was named to the First Team as an infielder and Colin Weinert to the Second Team as a Catcher.
  • Falcons enter Region XIX Championships as #1 seed

    The Lackawanna College Baseball team finished the 2018 regular season with a win-loss record of 24-16 overall and were 10-2 in Region XIX Division II conference play.  The Falcons’ conference record was the best in Region XIX and earned them a first round bye in the Region XIX Division II Baseball Tournament and the #1 seed in this weekend’s championship round held at Mercer Community College in West Windsor, New Jersey. Lackawanna opens up the double elimination tourney with a 10am game against the #4 seed Sussex County Community College.

    Scranton, PA – Friday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team lost to ASA College in a non-conference nine inning contest. The Falcons were outscored by ASA in a high scoring contest 13-11.

    Bethlehem, PA – Thursday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team fell to Northampton Community College in a non-conference nine inning contest. The NCC outscored the Falcons 11-7 for the victory.
  • Lackawanna spoils RCBC bid for Region XIX Bid

    Scranton, PA – Wednesday afternoon, The Lackawanna College Baseball spoiled Rowan College at Burlington County’s bid to gain a spot in the Region XIX Division II Baseball Tournament. RCBC needed to beat the Falcons to establish the required win-loss record to be seeded in the tourney. Unfortunately for the Barons, they ran into a Lackawanna team that is ranked 8th in the NJCAA DII National team statistical rankings in both batting average and slugging percentage, who, in today’s contest, squeaked out a high scoring 14-13 victory.
  • Lackawanna beats Luzerne in Inter-County Contest

    Scranton, PA – Tuesday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team used four home runs to beat Luzerne County Community College 13-3 in a non-conference contest. The first homer was a solo shot by Chris Skermo to lead off the second, which also put the Falcons’ first run of the day on the board. The second two homers were also solo homers and came in the third inning, when Thylar Summarell banged a two-out homer, followed by another one run dinger by CJ Lopez. The final homer was a two-run slam by Wady Tactuk in the seventh inning which was all that Lackawanna would need to claim a run rule victory.
  • Falcons Clinch First!

    Moosic, PA – Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team clinched first place in the Region XIX Division II standings, after shutting out Rowan College at Burlington County by an 8-0 score. The win came in first game of a Region doubleheader between the two institutions. The second game was rained out.

    Scranton, PA - Thursday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team beat Northampton Community College in a single nine inning game. The Falcons used three homers to outscore NCC 19-15 for the victory.
  • Falcons split with ASA in Non-Conference Doubleheader
    April 22, 2018
    Scranton, PA –For the second consecutive day, the Lackawanna College Baseball team rallied late in the game to claim a victory in the second game of Sunday’s twin-bill. The Falcons scored ten runs in the sixth to claim the 17-12 win over ASA College and a split of their non-conference doubleheader. The Avengers took the first game of the day by a score of 13-4.
  • Falcons rally for eleven runs to sweep Mercer and take First Place in Region DII Standings
    April 21, 2018
    Scranton, PA - The Lackawanna College Baseball team erased Mercer County Community College’s 12-2 lead in the second game of Saturday’s Region XIX Division II doubleheader, by scoring six runs in the fifth and five runs in the sixth to claim a 13-12 win and a sweep of the conference twin-bill. Earlier in the day, the Falcons won game one by a 9-5 score. With the duo wins, Lackawanna moved past Mercer into first place in the Region’s DII standings. The Falcons now have an 8-2 conference win/loss record and are two games ahead of Morris in the win column and three games ahead of Mercer.
  • Lackawanna falls Twice to HCC

    Moosic, PA – Sunday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team dropped both games of its non-conference doubleheader to Harford Community College. The Falcons were shutout in game one by a 15-0 score before being outscored 9-3 in the nightcap.
  • Lackawanna Sweeps Key Region XIX Twin Bill

    Georgetown, DE – Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team swept its Region XIX Division II doubleheader against Delaware Technical Community College. With the double win, the Falcons clinched a berth in the 2018 Region XIX Division II Baseball Tournament. Their remaining games against Mercer County Community College (April 21) and Rowan College at Burlington County (April 28) will determine their seed in that tourney. In today’s sweep Lackawanna beat Del Tech 6-4 in extra innings in game one and by a 12-6 score in the nightcap.
  • Three Falcon Baseball Players to Attend NCAA Colleges

    Coach Bruce Thompson announced that three of the team’s sophomores signed their National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, April 11th on National Signing Day. These three young men will join the eight other Falcon baseball players who signed in November to play at NCAA Four-year schools.
  • Lackawanna falls to Sullivan at Home

    Scranton, PA – Wednesday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team finally got a chance to play a home game on their Jadwin Street ballpark in Scranton. Unfortunately for the Falcons, they were outscored by SUNY – Sullivan 11-9.

    Schnecksville, PA – Sunday afternoon the Lackawanna College Baseball team improved their win/loss record to 15-10 with a win over Lehigh-Carbon Community College. Lackawanna outscored the Cougars 8-6 in this nine-inning contest.
  • Lackawanna splits with Sussex

    Chester, NY – Friday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team split its Region XIX Division II doubleheader with Sussex County Community College. The Falcons claimed the opener winning by a 11-1 score before falling to the Skylanders 9-7 in the nightcap.
  • Falcons Sweep Conference Doubleheader

    Flemington, NJ. – Thursday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team once again had to leave their home in Northeast Pennsylvania to find an all turf field on which they could play a home game. Today it was Diamond Nation in Flemington, New Jersey. The trip proved successful as Lackawanna swept Valley Forge Military College by scores of 16-5 and 14-4.
  • Falcons Split in Conference Opener

    Endwell, NY – Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team started its Region XIX Division II play by splitting its twin-bill with County College of Morris. The Falcons lost the first game 5-4 and bounced back in the nightcap to win 13-7.

    Poughkeepsie, NY: Playing in its first night game since returning from their trip to the Ripken Experience, the Lackawanna College Baseball team beat Duchess Community College 8-3.
  • Lackawanna Baseball to play Third Straight Home Game on Road

    Scranton, PA – The site of the Region XIX Division II doubleheader between Lackawanna College and County College of Morris has been changed. Originally scheduled for Lackawanna’s home field in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the twin bill will now be played at Maine-Endwell High School in Endwell, New York.
  • Lackawanna Baseball wins again on Road
    March 29, 2018
    Middletown, NY: Thursday, the Lackawanna College Baseball road warriors traveled to Middletown, New York to take on the Colts of Orange County Community College, in a single nine-inning game. For the sixth time in the seven games they played on the opposing or neutral fields, the Falcons claimed a victory. This time by a 9-6 score over OCCC. The irony of those seven road contests is that four were needed to play home games, as the Falcons traveled to Baseball Heaven in Yaphank, New York and Berwick High School, Berwick, Pennsylvania in order use their turf fields when the weather prohibited them from using their grass field.
  • Lackawanna Nine Sweep Doubleheader

    Berwick, PA – With their field still covered in snow, the Lackawanna College Baseball team was again forced to play a home doubleheader on the road. This time the Falcons hosted Rockland Community College at the Berwick Area high school baseball field. As it turned out, it was a successful trip as Lackawanna swept both games by score of 13-1 and 10-0.
  • Lackawanna outscores Messiah JV to Claim Win
    March 19, 2018
    Mechanicsburg, PA – Monday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team beat both the snow and the Messiah College Junior Varsity in a game that was moved up a day to avoid the next Northeaster predicted to affect Pennsylvania. In the ball game, the Falcons outscored Messiah 10-4.
