Scranton, PA – Lackawanna College is honored to announce that three members of its 2017 baseball team have been named to the All Region XIX Division II Baseball Team. Connor Perry was selected for the Region's First Team, while Zach Lopatka and Vincent Napolitano were named to the Region's Second Team.
Perry was selected as an outfielder after a season where he had a Batting Average of .364, recorded a .527 OBP and logged a .607 SLG. he had 51 hits in 140 ABs, with 14 doubles four triples and four home runs. Perry scored 57 runs and drove in 29 more. Earlier this year he was named the NJCAA Division II Player of the Week for his performance during week four of the 2017 NJCAA Season. Perry has committed to continue his college career at the University of Pittsburgh, a NCAA Division I institution and member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. He is a graduate of Norwin High School, and resident of Irwin, Pennsylvania
Lopatka also earned his spot on the team as an outfielder, with a batting average of .368, an OBA of .508 and a SLG of .640. He had 50 hits in 136 at bats with 10 doubles, three triples and seven home runs. Lopatka scored 40 times and drove in a team high 48 runs. In addition to the recognition he received from Region XIX, he also was named the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference DII Player of the Year and was acknowledged by the Lackawanna's coaching staff as their Most Valuable Player. He will enter Youngstown State University next fall. Youngstown is a NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Horizon League. Lopatka graduated from Wyoming Area High School and is a resident of Exeter, Pennsylvania.
A freshman, Napolitano earned his spot on the team as an infielder. He batted ,340 with an OBA of .412 and a SLG of .660. Napolitano had 33 hits in 97 at bats with seven doubles and eight home runs. He scored 23 runs and drove in 39. Napolitano is a graduate of Herrick High School, and resident of Williston Park, New York.
