Nanticoke, PA - Wednesday afternoon, the Lackawanna College baseball team outslugged Luzerne County Community College to claim a 10-6 victory. The Falcons' scored eight of their ten runs on a grand slam by Connor Perry; and, Kyle Rogers's three run homer in the fifth and a solo blast in the seventh.
Alex Varaksa was credited the win, after holding Luzerne to three runs on five hits over seven innings. Varaksa struck out six in improving his win/loss record to 5-3.
Zach Lopatka and Luis Rodriguez drove in the Falcons' other two runs. Lopatka contributed his RBI by way of a third inning single, while Rodriguez drove in a run on a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Lopatka was one of three Falcons who had multi-hit days in today's contest. Lopatka singled twice in five at bats, with his RBI and a run scored.One of the other Lackawanna batter with two hits was Chris Skermo. Skermo singled twice in four plate appearances and scored once. Rogers was the third hitter with a multi-hit game as he had a single to go along with his two home runs.
Lackawanna plays again tomorrow, when the Falcons host Northampton Community College in a single game at PNC Field in Moosic Pennsylvania. Tomorrow's first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
