Scranton, PA – Sunday afternoon, the Lackawanna College baseball team improved their win/loss record to 32-14, after sweeping Bucks County Community College in a non-conference double header. The Falcons beat Bucks 15-2 in the opening game of the twin bill and then outscored the Centurions 6-4 in the nightcap.
In the opener, Steven Boscia earned the victory by holding Bucks to two runs over four innings on two hits. The win improved his season win/loss record to 2-1.
At the plate, three Falcons had multi-hit games. Connor Perry walked twice, singled and tripled in four plate appearances, he also scored twice and drove in two runs. Giovanni Torres walked, singled and doubled in three visits to the plate. Torres scored twice and contributed an RBI. Finally, Chris Skermo also singled and doubled in three at bat, while scoring twice and driving in three runs. Zach Lopatka had Lackawanna's only other extra base hit, a double.
In the nightcap, Jean Carlos Bonilla was credited with the win, after working four innings and holding the Centurions to two runs on two hits. He struck out five. Jayson Wibur earned a save after limiting the Bucks to only two runs on two hits over three innings.
The Falcons were held to seven hits. Connor Perry and D'Quan Matthews had four of those seven. Perry singled and doubled in four at bats; while Matthews walked, singled twice and drove in a run in four plate appearances. Kelani Luke had the only other extra base hit for Lackawanna, a double in the fifth.
Lackawanna's next game is scheduled for Tuesday when they play Luzerne County Community College at PNC Field. Game time is scheduled for 4 PM.
