Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College baseball team swept its Region XIX Division II doubleheader, clinching a third place seed in the upcoming Region DII Tournament. The Falcons won today's opening game by coming back from a 6-2 deficit in the seventh inning, scoring five runs in the bottom of the inning to claim a 7-6 win. In the night cap Lackawanna took an early two run lead in the first inning, which they held the entire contest on their way to a 5-1 win.
Elijah Baez earned the win, pitching in relief of Lopatka. He held RCBC scoreless on three hits over two and one third innings.
In the nightcap, Jared Solomon highlighted Lackawanna's efforts, as he hurled a seven inning complete game, holding Burlington to one run on six hits, while striking out 14.
At the plate, Kulani Luke impressed with a sixth inning three run homer. He was joined by Chris Skermo, who was the only Falcon to contribute a multi-hit game. Skermo drove in a run and scored a run on two singles in three at bats.
Lackawanna takes the field again tomorrow, when they host Bucks County Community College in a non-conference twin bull. Tomorrow's doubleheader starts at 12 PM.
