Lackawanna falls to ASA College

Scranton, PA – Thursday afternoon, the Lackawanna College baseball team dropped a nine inning non-conference game to ASA College. The Falcons were outscored 13-6.

Alex Varaska suffered his third loss of season, after giving up six runs over six innings on seven hits. Of the six runs he relinquished, only three were earned. His win/loss record for the season is now 4-3.

At the plate, the Lackawanna batters had nine hits. Mike Villa and Zach Lopatka had four of those nine. Villa drove in one run with a single and double in four at bats. Lopatka scored once on a walk and two singles in four plate appearances. Of the other five hits, three were extra base hits. Sterling Smith, Chris Skermo and Kulani Luke, each contributed a double.

Lackawanna next plays on Saturday, when they host Rowan College at Burlington Valley in an important Region XIX Division II doubleheader. A win in either game of that twin bill guarantees the Falcons a third place seed in the upcoming Region XIX DII Baseball Tournament. Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at 12 PM.
