Scranton, PA – Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College baseball team split its Region XIX Division II with Delaware Technical Community College. The Falcons dropped the opener by a 11-6 score, before rebounding in the nightcap to claim a 6-2 victory.
In the opener, Logan Zavada suffered his first loss of the season, giving up eight runs over three and a third innings.
At the plate, Lacakawanna batters had eight hits with two Falcons contributing four of those hits. Both Jahmoi Percival and D'Quan Matthews had half of those hits, with each of them contributing two singles. Percival had a perfect two for two day with a run scored and RBI, while Matthews was two for three with an RBI.
In game two, Jared Solomon claimed his fourth victory of the year, after holding Del Tech to one run over five innings. Solomon relinquished a solo hit and struck out six. Steven Boscia was credited with a hold, finishing the game with two innings of relief, relinquishing one run on one hit, while striking out four.
The Lackawanna batters were led by Sean Putnman and Jahmoi Percival. Putnam delivered a three run homer in the third, while Percival added a solo homer in the fifth. In addition those two homers, Vincent Napolitano and Michael Villa contributed multi-hit games. Napolitano singled and doubled in three plate appearances, with a run scored, while Villa singled twice in two visits to the plate. Villa also scored a run. Zach Lopatka, D'Quan Matthews and Connor Perry added extra base hits to the winning effort. Lopatka and Matthews each doubled, while Perry led off the bottom of the first with a triple.
Lackawanna next plays on Monday in a nine inning game against Wilkes University at the Falcons' home field. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
