Lackawanna Splits in Tuesday Contests

Myrtle Beach, SC – The Lackawanna College opened play on Tuesday with a 7-6 extra inning win over NJCAA DI Potomac State College of WVU; before being shut out by John Wood Community College by a 6-0 score.

In game one, tied at 6-6 after seven, the Falcons went ahead in the eighth with what proved to be the game winning run when Vincent Napolitano drove in Connor Perry with a RBI single. Jahmoi Percival earned the win by pitching the last two innings in relief, shutting out Potomac on one hit, while striking out two. Starting pitcher Zach Lopatka was effective relinquishing only two runs on five hits while striking out two. Perry was the Falcons leading hitter with a home run, single. 2 stolen bases and 2 runs scored. Both D'Quan Matthews and Lopatka contributed to the Falcons' win with RBI double.

In game two, Jayson Wilbur suffered loss. He threw four and a third innings relinquishing six runs, four of which were earned. Steven Boscia finished the game for Lackawanna, hurling two and two thirds scoreless innings. The Falcon batters where held to two hits in the shutout. A leadoff double by Connor Perry and a single by Sterling Smith.
Lackawanna will return to play on Thursday when they play Mercyhurst North East and College of Lake County.
