Lackawanna falls twice in Monday Contests

Myrtle Beach, SC – On the second day of play on its spring trip to the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the Lackawanna College baseball team loss both of their games. In the opener, the Falcons fell to Olney Central College 9-4 and then lost to Middlesex County Community College 8-7 in the nightcap.

In game one, Jared Solomon took the loss pitching four innings while yielding two earned runs on eight hits. In relief of Solomon, PJ Mandarano excelled, by pitching three innings without relinquishing an earned run. At the plate, Kyle Rogers broke out of a hitting slump with a double in two at bats. Rogers also scored twice.

In the second game. Jean Carlos Bonilla suffered the loss after going two and two third innings giving up two earned runs while yielding six walks and two hits. In relief, Carlos Benoit pitched effectively hurling three and two third innings relinquishing a sole earned run on two hits. At the plate, Vincent Napolitano continued to be productive as the team's designated hitter. Against Middlesex, he contributed a single and double in four plate appearances while driving in two runs. D'Quan Matthews also shined at the plate with two singles and a double in four at bats; he scored twice.

The Falcons seek to bounce back tomorrow with a 12:00 PM game against Potomac State College of WVU and a 3:00 PM contest versus John Wood Community College.
