Scranton, PA – Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna Baseball team swept a non-conference twin-bill with Central Penn College, winning the first game by a 15-2 score and outscoring Central Penn 14-2 in the night-cap.
In game one, Joshua Breittholz earned the win with a five inning pitching performance during which he relinquished two runs, one of which was unearned, on seven hits. He struck out three.
Zach Lopatka and Wady Tactuk led the Falcons hitters with multi-hit games, which included a two run homer by each of them. In addition to his home run, Lopatka singled, scored three times and drove in three runs, in three at bats. Besides his homer, Tactuk doubled, scored twice and drove in two more, in three plate appearances. Also having notable hitting performances were Isaac Samuel, with a single and double; Ethan Bowen, with a triple; Connor Perry with a triple; and, Sean O'Connor, with two singles.
In the second game, Charlie Hessil was credited with the win, his first of the season.
Top batters were Connor Perry and Ethan Bowen. Perry doubled twice and smashed a grand slam in three at bats. Bowen had two RBI singles and a run scoring double. Others with notable hitting performances were Lopatka with a single and double; Sterling Smith, with a single and triple; and, Carlos Gomez with two singles.
Tomorrow's Region XIX DII doubleheader at Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown Delaware has already been canceled due to predicted rain. That two game set has not been rescheduled, but must be played this week since it has a bearing on the final seeding for the Region XIX Baseball Tournament.
