Scranton, PA - the Lackawanna College baseball team opened their home schedule on Saturday afternoon, with a doubleheader sweep of Borough of Manhattan Community College. The Falcons took both games by an identical score of 10-0.
The Falcons pitching star in the first contest was Daniel Behlke, who claimed the win by shutting out Borough of Manhattan for five innings, while relinquishing two hits and striking out three. The victory is Behlke's second of the season. He has yet to suffer a loss.
Lackawanna top batters were Sterling Smith, who had a perfect three for three days, with a single and two doubles; and, Carlos Gomez, who had a single and double in his two official visits to the plate. Zach Lopatka provided Lackawanna's power with a two-run homer in the fifth.
In the second game, Jordan Ueltschy claimed the win by hurling five innings of shutout baseball, while yielding a single hit and striking out four. The victory is Ueltschy's second of the year without a loss.
Lackawanna's top hitter was Lopatka, who continued his first game power hitting with two doubles in three plate appearances. Connor Perry also contributed an RBI double in two official at bat.
The Falcons play again this weekend when they travel to Poughkeepsie, New York to play a single game versus Dutchess Community College. First pitch for that contest is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
