Falcons win Opener in Region XIX Tourney

Georgetown, DE – Trailing 2-0 going into the bottom of the fourth, the Lackawanna College baseball team rebounded to claim a 3-2 victory over Burlington County College. With the win, the Falcons advanced to a winner brackets game against Mercer County Community College, after Mercer shut out County College of Morris in the morning game, 5-0.

Down 2-0 after three and one half innings, the Falcons scored their first run of the contest in the bottom of the fourth. In that frame, Eric Grabowski singled, stole second and scored on a Burlington error. The score remained 2-1 in to the bottom of the seventh, when Lackawanna scored twice to take, what proved to be, the winning margin of victory. In that inning, Sjaghbar Martis walked, moved to second on a fielder's choice and scored on Bernard Brito double. Brito then scored when the following hitter, Maicol Parrilla singled him in.

Kraigen Rasalla earned the win in relief of Grabowski. Rasalla shut out the Barons in the final three innings, while yielding 1 hit and striking out 2. Grabowski started for the Falcons and completed 6 innings. He relinquished 2 runs on 6 hits and struck out 7.

Lackawanna's hitters were held to five hits, singles by Grabowski, Parrilla and Rasheed Noble; and, doubles by Brito and Nick Hogan
