Scranton, PA – The time period from April 13th through April 19th is one which Lackawanna College second basemen, Eric Grabowski, will not soon forget. It was during that time period that his on field performances earned him recognition as both the NJCAA Baseball Division II Player of the Week and the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week.
In a nine game stretch that week, Grabowski recorded 21 hits in 33 at bats, of which 7 were doubles, 2 were triples and 2 were home runs. He also scored 14 times and drove in 18 runs. His batting average during that period was .636, his on base percentage was .648 and his slugging percentage was 1.152. Against Burlington in the first game of a doubleheader he hit for the cycle going 4 for 4, while scoring 3 times and driving in 5 runs. In the second game of that doubleheader, he was the winning pitcher throwing 6 innings giving up 5 runs, one of which was earned, while striking out 5.
To put Grabowski's performance in perspective, in 35 games last season, he had a respectable total of 7 doubles, a triple and 6 home runs when he hit .424 with 53 hits in 125 at bats.
Grabowski is having another impressive year for the Falcons. As of April 23rd, he is hitting .424 with 42 hits in 99 at bats, with 13 doubles, 4 triples and 4 home runs. He has 29 RBIs and has scored 30 times. His on base percentage is .478 and his slugging percentage .737.
Grawboski is a resident of Scott Township, Pennsylvania and is graduate of Lakeland High School.
