Myrtle Beach SC – In their first game on Wednesday evening, the Lackawanna College Baseball team used a limited but effective hitting performance and superb pitching to claim their seventh consecutive victory. Tonight that win came against Florence-Darlington Technical College by a 3-2 score.
Florence Darlington scored in the first inning, but lost the lead in the top of the third when the Falcons used four walks and a two RBI single off the bat of Francisco Zayas to give Lackawanna a three to one lead. A lead that was threatened by Florence Darlington in the fourth when they scored a solo run, but which was never bested.
Zayas's hit was one of two that the Falcons generated in the game, the other came off the bat of Bernardo Brito.
It was Lackawanna's pitching that proved to be the difference as Eric Grabowski and Kraigen Rasalla combined to hold Florence-Darlington to two runs on eight hits. Rasalla pitched the final two of those innings giving up no hits and no hits while striking out two. Grabowski was credited with the win while Rasalla earned his second save of the season.
