  • Lackawanna’s Dylan O’Dell Tees Off in Opening Round of NJCAA DII Tournament

    Foley AL - Lackawanna College golfer, Dylan O’Dell finished round one of the National Junior College Athletic Association National Division II with an 87 at Glen Lakes Golf Club in Foley, Alabama. He was only five over par after his 14 holes, only to struggle the last few holes to finish 15 over par for the round. O’Dell looks to improve on that score over the final 54 holes left in the tournament.

    West Windsor, NJ – Saturday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team saw their season come to an end in the championship round of the Region XIX Division II Baseball Tournament; falling to Mercer County Community College 11-6. Lackawanna advanced to that round by beating Sussex County Community College 14-1 earlier in the day.
  • Falcon Players receive High Honors

    WILMINGTON, DE – The Region XIX Baseball Committee released its Division II All Region Team for the 2018 season. Four Lackawanna Players were named to that team with Kelani Luke chosen as the “Division II Men's Baseball Player of the Year” and Joey Baran designated as the “Division II Men's Baseball Pitcher of the Year”. Besides Luke and Baran, Jahmoi Percival was named to the First Team as an infielder and Colin Weinert to the Second Team as a Catcher.

    West Windsor, NJ – The Lackawanna College Baseball team split its two games on the opening day of the Region XIX Division II Baseball Tournament. In the opening contest, the Falcons beat Sussex County Community College 8-2 on a 3 hit 3 RBI batting performance by DJ Berry-Staszak and a 7 hit 2 run joint pitching effort by Joey Baran and Steve Boscia.. In the second game of the day, Lackawanna was outscored 7-5 by Mercer County Community College, as the Vikings scored 5 unearned runs in the 7th inning and two earned runs in the 9th to overcome the Falcons’ 5 run lead.

    Scranton – Sophomore soccer player Joshua Schliesing recently committed to NCAA Division II Nyack College to continue his academic and athletic career. A resident of Zermatt, Switzerland, Schliesing is a 6’1 athletic midfielder/forward who was a leader on the pitch for the Falcons the last two years. At Nyack, Joshua will be majoring in Business Administration Sports Management.

  • Falcons enter Region XIX Championships as #1 seed

    The Lackawanna College Baseball team finished the 2018 regular season with a win-loss record of 24-16 overall and were 10-2 in Region XIX Division II conference play.  The Falcons’ conference record was the best in Region XIX and earned them a first round bye in the Region XIX Division II Baseball Tournament and the #1 seed in this weekend’s championship round held at Mercer Community College in West Windsor, New Jersey. Lackawanna opens up the double elimination tourney with a 10am game against the #4 seed Sussex County Community College.

    Cumberland, MD – The Lackawanna College Golf team saw their season come to an end in the final round of the National Junior College Athletic Association’s District “H” Golf Tournament. The Falcons shot a final round 364, which gave Lackawanna a tourney total of 730 and a last place finish in the three-team event. The Falcons low score was carded by Dylan O’Dell, who shot a 76 in today’s round. O’Dell’s two-day total of 160 was the third lowest of all the golfers participating in the tournament.

The Falcons carded a team score of 366 with Dylan O’Dell leading the team with a low round of 84.

    Scranton, PA – Wednesday afternoon, The Lackawanna College Baseball spoiled Rowan College at Burlington County’s bid to gain a spot in the Region XIX Division II Baseball Tournament. RCBC needed to beat the Falcons to establish the required win-loss record to be seeded in the tourney. Unfortunately for the Barons, they ran into a Lackawanna team that is ranked 8th in the NJCAA DII National team statistical rankings in both batting average and slugging percentage, who, in today’s contest, squeaked out a high scoring 14-13 victory.
  • Lackawanna beats Luzerne in Inter-County Contest

    Scranton, PA – Tuesday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Baseball team used four home runs to beat Luzerne County Community College 13-3 in a non-conference contest. The first homer was a solo shot by Chris Skermo to lead off the second, which also put the Falcons’ first run of the day on the board. The second two homers were also solo homers and came in the third inning, when Thylar Summarell banged a two-out homer, followed by another one run dinger by CJ Lopez. The final homer was a two-run slam by Wady Tactuk in the seventh inning which was all that Lackawanna would need to claim a run rule victory.

    West Windsor, NJ – Monday afternoon, the Lackawanna College Softball team dropped both games of its Region XIX Division II doubleheader against Mercer County Community College. The Falcons lost a heart breaker in the opening game of the twin-bill, losing by a 3-2 score before being outscored 9-6 in the nightcap. With the loss, the Lackawanna finished their conference schedule with a win/loss record of 6-4.
