Lackawanna Student-Athletes Recognized Nationally for Academic Proficiency

Nineteen members of the Lackawanna College athletic teams were recently acknowledged nationally for their achievements in the classroom. The nineteen were named by the National Junior College Athletic Association to its All-Academic Team.

This award honors student-athletes solely for their classroom achievements during the preceding academic year. The only conditions required of these student athletes is that they were full time students and were active participants on a NJCAA sponsored team. The NJCAA All-Academic team is divided into three levels. The First Team selection is awarded to full time student-athletes who achieved a perfect GPA 4.0 during the 2017-2018 year. Those named to the Second Team compiled a GPA between 3.80 and 3.99. Members of the Third Team attained a GPA between 3.60 and 3.79.

Of the nineteen Falcon players named to the academic team, one was selected to the NJCAA First Team; seven were named to the Second Team and eleven to the Third Team.

By team participation, baseball had 5 players make the list, followed by softball with 4; football with 3; men's soccer, volleyball and wrestling with 2 each; and men's and .women's basketball, both with 1.
