Saturday, February 4th, the Lackawanna College Men's and Women's Basketball Teams hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Their games against Harcum College and events hosted by the both teams leading up to the game were used to raise awareness for Michele's Ladies in Pink, a local organization in memory of Michele Zini, who was diagnosed with stage IV inflammatory breast cancer in 2000 and passed away in 2005.
The teams held a baked sale, t-shirt sale, and also obtained a portion of the ticket sales from the contest to go towards the donation to Michele's Ladies in Pink. The total proceeds from these events were $1,000, turning both teams' efforts into a huge benefit for the Ladies in Pink organization.
Along with the success of the fundraisers, the day boasted victories for both teams with the men winning 89-85 and the women winning 77-70, turning the day into an overall victory for all involved.
