SCRANTON, Pa. - Kim Mecca, the Lackawanna College Athletic Director, will be one of four Region XIX representatives attending the 2016 National Junior College Athletic Association Annual Meeting. The meeting is being held March 29 to April 2 at the Antler's Hilton in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
At the meeting, Mecca, the Region XIX Assistant Women's Director, will be representing the interests of the Region's athletic programs in general and, specifically, those of the women's athletic programs. Region XIX is comprised of 30 NJCAA institutions with members located in the states of Delaware, New Jersey, and the eastern half of Pennsylvania.
The purpose of the assembly is to allow the various regional directors to meet and trade ideas beneficial to two-year colleges across the nation; to consider and vote on various proposals submitted during the year regarding bylaws and procedures relating to eligibility, scholarships, practices, recruiting, and other issues pertaining to participation in NJCAA sponsored sports; and to serve as a countrywide gathering for the presentation of the national awards of recognition and service.
The NJCAA was formed in 1938 by junior colleges with a primary mission to foster a national program of athletic participation in in it and the environment that supports equitable opportunities consistent with the educational objectives of member colleges.
